    Today I was driving to seaside and after about 200km my car lost some power and warning lights for check engine, tire pressure, traction and forward crash all lit up.     Yep, this happened to mine! The car has been sitting for 2 years until the price of injectors came down in price because if covid tax!!! Just started rebuilding it this week. I had to use a 10mm wood spade drill bit to get the copper washer out as the carbon had welded it in and i needed to use a 10 foot braker bar to remove the naffed injector.

    Hi buddy I am working on a Mazda 6 at the moment the vacuum pump is gone did the same test as you through the brake sensor this Mazda ribs up to 2000 RPM when you start it and stays there for about 30 seconds is the vacuum pump causing this

    Mazda should have recalled the affected cars and replace the camshafts and injector washers. But they won't do it because of the cost. They only replace vacuum pump because it is a safety feature and could get sued. If you mess up, fix it.... Boohoo for mazda for that And boohoo for the owner of this car. Camshaft is not that expensive, should have changed it and then sell. Instead of selling a lemon now.

    good tutorial, but al4/dp0 gearboxes use only Mobil LT71141. Using regular ATF as suggested is common issue generator on those gearboxes. Second most common issue for those gearboxes is overheating as cooling was designed to be ~100-105 deg. C, which is on this gearbox limit. That is why it is good to add external cooler for gearbox.

    The oil strainer comes with a small rubber O ring. But when I fit it to my oil pump with this O ring it doesnt mount on properly? Can you fit the strainer without the O ring to the oil pump?

    Its just that Mazda had some errors in making the first 2.2D's ( 2012-2016 ) Camshaft failure because the rockers were too hard for the metal of the cam, this in turn put tiny metal shavings down the engine driven vacuum pump, and failure of pump ( Mazda would only replace the failed pump on recall , and do nothing about the cam ) . The exhaust pressure sensor had to be updated as well as the old one would shit itself. Injector washers were also shit, as the full copper ones would leak, and had to be updated for an aluminium/copper ones. Failing washers would carbon up the top end, and would work itself into the bottom of the engine, and block up the oil strainer causing low oil pressure, which if not caught In time, would be catastrophic to the engine. Excessive carboning of the egr valve, cooler, intake, and ports, does also need to be attended and cleaned ( this can cause excessive dpf regens, or it could be the case that one would have the earlier injectors that are prone to cavitation. ) Also, I change the oil every 5000 kilometres , with ultra low sulphur C1 full synthetic.

    I now follow this youtuber as the information provided is extremely useful for users of these engines! My experience is that they are great engines, just need a little extra engine TLC (i bought a highly maintained one at 91k (2016), exhaust can at minimal wear, on the new type pressure sensor, no chain tap, had to replace to upgraded injector seals (worn but not failed), oil change set to about 6 month change, only had 1 fault when bought (high intake manifold pressure (carbon build up the cause), coolant good, minor carbon build up in the intake, overall an amazing condition engine. I use an Autel MK808BT for diag. Only downside for this car so far for me is the wheels ( i need to get them refurbed and red paint ones get minor lacquer peel.) my next jobs: oil change, intake clean, gear box oil change, drive belt change, air/fuel/cabin filter change. I changed from an audi BRE 2l TDI, also brill car, lasted 7 years with me (182k, original engine, box, clutch, turbo, etc), only problems i saw with this engine are that the EGR causes DPF blocks (regen and SW code EGR to low to fix), body degrade after 16years (sills). As he says, keep proper maintenance and TLC, these engines go on for many miles and years. Extra TLC is also recommended (people forget gearbox oil changes, it also needs to be done every few years in my experience.)

    Hi, i just had the whole engine refurbished with new cam chain, camshafts and rocket arms. Car drives fine and intermittently it throws P285B error code, i believe vaccum pump hasnt been replaced, wondering if i need to change it and if so, would the part number for it be SH15-18-W00C?

    I changed injector washers with new silver ones, when i connected everything together, started the car and ran it for 5 minutes on idle, then went to test drive it and after 15km i was stranded on the side of the road with fuel return line broken on two places and from the left side to the right number 3 injector came loose and damaged injector holder screw. Do you know maybe what went wrong? i torqued everything as you on the video. Can you give me advice?

    My D5 loves front wheel bearings🫣,next time im buying the carrier with bearing from Volvo,i don't think these replacement bearings,even FAG, are long lasting. Maybe there is to much weight on front axle of car?

    Thanks for such a honest video. I have both, cx-5 2.2 diesel (130k kms), and a civic type S 2.2 diesel (280k kms) Definetly, the civic hasn't asked for much (in terms of corrective maintenance) compared to the mazda during its lifetime. Being a mechanic myself, I admit the mazda needs more care, but also is a nicer car. Thanks for the great content!

    It's every manufacturer has problems with diesel engines. But the way to go it petrol these skyactiv petrol engines are amazing high compression and brilliant with high octane fuel and remap, great mpg too

    Mazda service spec for oil changes is every 10k kms or once per year. My oil changes were done every 7k kms from new and the camshaft was stuffed at 40k kms. The vacuum pump was changed at 47k kms. The turbo is suspect at 63k kms. Some engines are ok, a lot of them are absolute crap. The following TSB is from Mazda that knew it had a problem (with bad camshafts) and other than putting out a TSB (when it knew it could no longer hide the problem), refused to do anything else about it - australiancar.reviews/_pdfs/Mazda-TSB-SkyActivD-R073-15.pdf

    This engine is indeed not as reliable as vw diesel or bmw engine. I had m6 2013, till 200t km was lovely, but then came the avalanche of problems. Head gasket, turbo because of faulty rivet. After this 20t km was fine and since the head gasket the oil presure and temperature checked frequently, everything fine, but all of sudden piston rod knocking 800km away from home. How can it happen? Very disapointed and have to sell it for bargain.
